Why Join Beta Alpha Psi?
Members develop themselves professionally to ensure that they can have a successful career. Beta Alpha Psi is recognized and respected by all the Big 4, top banks, and other financial firms. Beta Alpha Psi is a brand and becoming associated with this brand showcases that you are one of the brightest students on campus.
Baruch College is a commuter school so it can be difficult to get to know other students beyond classes. Beta Alpha Psi brings together like-minded individuals who share that same passion and allows them to build a bond with members through social, professional, and service activities. In essence, Beta Alpha Psi is not only an organization on campus; it’s a family.
Upon joining Beta Alpha Psi, each prospective member is paired with a mentor. This mentor is typically an upperclassman that the prospective member has gotten to know over the first few weeks. Having a mentor is a great benefit as prospective members can learn from each mentor’s experiences and career advice. This mentor program does not end in your college career. Knowing that you have someone looking out for you every step of the way makes you feel proud to be a part of the Beta Alpha Psi family.
Beta Alpha Psi was founded in 1919. The Alpha Gamma chapter at Baruch College was founded in 1949. This shows that the Beta Alpha Psi network extends a long way. With the lifetime membership, our members constantly have access to expand their network and build on the relationship the organization has kept with alumni. On many occasions, our alumni reach out to us to host events on campus and even recruit from our organization.
WHAT IS RECRUITMENT WEEK?
The recruitment process occurs in the first month of the Fall and Spring semester, and lasts for three weeks. This process consists of a series of events where you can see whether or not this is an organization that fits your needs, and that you can see yourself being a part of. We host social, professional, and community service events to showcase all three of our pillars.
WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY FOR AN INTERVIEW?
To qualify for an interview at the end of the recruitment process, you must have a 3.5 GPA and attend one GIM and two other rush events. However, we encourage prospective members to come to as many events as possible to get to know our members and what we stand for.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE?
We strive to select the brightest and most diligent students at Baruch. Our officers plan it for approximately 3 months in advance! We take our work very seriously, so we try to select students that we see the most potential in. Beta Alpha Psi prides itself in creating the future leaders of tomorrow, and that’s exactly what we look for in our candidates. We seek hardworking, confident, motivated, and energized students that have shined through the rush process and are willing to constantly improve themselves. Our prospective members should be willing to take everything in as a learning experience, because the growth that happens through the semester is truly rewarding.
